Team Collaboration with Experiential Learning Games

Take your learning into the 21st century. Welcome to the world of serious social play.

How We Work

Build the team, connect the players, make the point and drive the learning outcomes with our range of immersive and themed simulations that each explore and test an important skill for organisational life. It might be about collaboration, prioritisation, culture, strategy, ambiguity or diverse and high performing teams. Our multi-screen cloud-hosted games use a slick layer of technology and rich game mechanic to bring the team together as they work to solve or win the day.

Whether a leadership team of six, a department of 60 or a conference room of 600 our games are scalable and flexible in their application to your context. Our facilitators work with you to shape the debrief and use the arresting nature of the gameplay to captivate busy and distracted minds in ways they were not expecting.

Serious Social Play

Serious Social Play in Action

Game-based learning is an educational approach that uses the principles of game design and mechanics to facilitate learning experiences in the workplace.

Duration
1.5- 2.5 Hours

Delivery Mode
Face to Face, Virtual or Hybrid

At a Conference

Simulations are a potent ingredient in large room events. A powerful way to ignite the room and engage the crowd, forcing them to meet each other, haggle, bargain, argue and agree on how to proceed in the simulated challenge. What happens in the simulation gets talked about at the coffee break, drinks and dinner hours later and sometimes years later.

Inside a longer-form training program

A perfect ingredient in longer form executive education, our suite of simulations have formed the cornerstone of many of our leadership development modules.

At your social event or together as a team

Looking for something in which everyone can participate, requiring no physical prowess, accessible to all, and not reliant on the sunny skies or calm seas of outdoor activities? A simulation might be just the ticket.

At your offsite or team building event

No better way to signal the start of an all-hands, road show or town hall than with a simulation. Prime the audience with the salient themes of your event with an engaging experience from the get-go.

What OUR CLIENTS ARE saying

"Your facilitators were exceptional. They encouraged open dialogue, asked thought-provoking questions, and ensured everyone’s participation in a fun and interactive environment. We look forward to future collaborations with 10,000 Hours"

Have questions?
We’ve got answers.

  • The name 10,000 hours comes from the work of K. Anders Ericsson. He wrote the academic paper that Malcolm Gladwell later popularised in his book Outliers. Ericsson’s study found those at the top of their game, masters of their craft, have no less than ten thousand hours of deliberate practice. The most important part of the insight is the deliberate practice being done. We use deliberate practice in all our work.

  • (i)We facilitate group workshops to help our clients achieve productive outcomes.

(ii)We train leaders and their teams in the professional skills they need.

(iii)We provide content and facilitation for large-room conference-style events.

(iv)We design off the shelf and tailored learning solutions

We do all these things in-person, virtual, and hybrid.

  • Our ability to deliver at scale in our client's context, our rigorous and supportive project management team and our world class facilitators who deliver cutting edge content.

  • Yes. We have a suite of core capability programs which can de delivered at scale, virtually or face to face.

  • Like any other esteemed profession, we believe our field of organisational facilitation and executive education has continuing education requirements. To that end we undertake group supervision, attend our own study groups and group interest groups. We present papers at academic conferences on complexity and group psychotherapy. We read widely and prepare cases for peer review modelled on medical practice. We subject ourselves and each other to regular critical review and feedback by peers and external specialists.

  • Yes, we are proud to be the exclusive provider of Pod & HIve's suite of team simulations. More information on the games can be found here.

  • Yes - we regularly deliver keynote sessions at conferences. Current topics include: 21st Century Leadership, Grit, Building a culture of experimentation.

  • Our head office is in Sydney and we have a team of facilitators in each state in Australia. Globally, we deliver in the US, UK, India and Middle East.

  • Get in touch to discuss your specific needs, availability of our team.  Typically there is a 2-6 week time frame from initial brief to delivery. However, we have been known to save a national conference with 5 days notice and fly interstate that night to recover an offsite that needed support.

  • We love a good old-fashioned chat, we can do this virtual or in person. Contact us here to lock some time in the diary.

We’d love to work with you!
